Overview

The International Master in Donation & Transplantation of Organs, Tissues and Cells is a specific Master by the University of Barcelona addressed to students who aim to follow a professional path. The program includes synchronous and asynchronous training with practical simulations and an internship, either online or face-to-face in a prestigious center.

Its goal is to bring together the knowledge, skills, and best practices that benefit healthcare professionals working in the donation and transplantation field, tissue bankers, and advanced cell therapies researchers.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn and exchange knowledge with their colleagues, experts, tutors, and the center’s staff. Previous TPM courses can be recognized.

The official language of the Master is English. Other languages will be accepted for the final Master’s Dissertation.

Objectives

To provide healthcare professionals with the tools and resources that may support their work and the development of multidisciplinary tasks in donor-transplant coordination, tissue banking, and cell therapy programs.
To optimize decision-making in the organ procurement and transplant processes, to boost teamwork and best practices, and to promote the use of technology to share information and knowledge.
To build a consulting network between the participants and the international institutions that take part in the program.

The master’s curriculum is designed to be taken in one academic year but thanks to its modular structure, the modules can be taken in different academic years to be validated once the official master registration is performed, under a penalty fee.

Face-to-face optional internship in an accredited center is offered.

A 1-week fellowship will also be arranged in Barcelona during the last week of the Master program (by mid-June).

It consists of 60 ECTS and offers two different pathways with the following modular structure:

Educational Methodology

The TPM pedagogical model is based on the use of a learning structure that facilitates the access to an educational environment through learning and communication tools, teaching resources, and continuous pedagogic advice from the faculty members and educational staff.

Knowledge transferability is done in a continuous and direct way to improve the work of the student. The teaching materials are designed to allow the students to be their own learning administrators.

Online modality. The program is carried out online and includes theory, practical exercises, and simulations that emulate the whole donation process.
Support. The faculty teams act as tutors promoting communication and guiding the students throughout their learning process.
Feedback. A system of continuous evaluation assesses the accomplishment of the learning objectives and the student’s grade of satisfaction.
